First Year at Uni | My Experience!

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

I got my results from my first year at uni a few weeks ago and I thought that I would share my experiences with you, I know loads of people in the year below me are nervous about whether or not to go to uni so this might help! I am just going to say now I am not your everyday student, I don't like to go out and I don't really like getting drunk I'm more of a social drinker but I'll only have a few! But regardless of this I had an amazing first year at uni so I thought you guys might like to read about it!

So as some of you may know, it was going to uni that actually pushed me to start my blog! I started this on the 5th of September 2013 and I moved to uni the weekend after so I've been blogging throughout my whole first year! When I moved into my halls I was so nervous and apprehensive as you don't have any idea what your flat mates are going to be like. For me is was made worse as I was the first one to move into my flat and I then had to wait for everyone else to come. However, my flat mates were all lovely and it is all a learning curve so you just have to be confident and introduce yourself because you are going to be living with each other for the year!

I don't know if it is the same for everyone but after the weekend we moved in we then had two weeks for freshers to settle into our flats, meet the people that are going to be on our courses, find your way around campus and just generally adjust to uni life! Obviously everyone was going out a lot during this period but I was lucky as I had some flat mates that were like me and aren't so keen on going out so we would just stay in! What I found the hardest during this period of time was choosing what to cook myself for dinner, it was so hard deciding on different meals for a fortnight!!

After freshers you then start your official timetable and this was a struggle at first because you have had so much free time over the long summer between college and uni and it takes time to adjust back! Once a few weeks have gone by you settle into a routine and it all become natural but I will advise you to keep on top of your reading and work because it makes revision much easier! Then before you know it, its Christmas and your back at home with your family! The one thing I will say to you is I know you won't want to revise over your Christmas break but it is for the best, you won't have enough time to revise when you get back to uni before your January exams, trust me I'm speaking from experience!

Once January exams are over then we had a few days off to chill out and get ready for the next term, I think I spent this time reading as I never had time to read a book through the first term. Then you get into semester two which is from February to June and we studied three different modules. It feels the same as the first term but because you have done it all before and you know what your doing now it is so much easier to stay on top of you work and revise as you go! I got much better results in my second term than I did in the first so don't get disheartened by your results in February.

Overall I had the most amazing year at uni, met some true friends and made some brilliant memories. I am also getting very excited to move into our house for our second year! I hope that this has maybe put some of you at ease or answered some question you may have had. If you have any specific questions that you want me to answer then leave them in the comments with your twitters and I will answer them for you! I am sure I'll do a room tour or something on here and my YouTube channel because I have a theme and I'm excited for it to all come together!

Also my blog is turning one in under two months time and I cannot believe how quick this year has gone, I will be doing something special and I hope that my YouTube channel reaches 100 subscribers before then so I can make it extra special!! Thank you all so much for coming along with me through out my first year at uni and my first year of my blog, lets hope that this is one of many of Beautiful You!

  1. I'm starting uni (hopefully, still waiting on results) this year and reading this has made me really exited. I've never heard it all written out like this beforfe most people just discus the highs and lows but it'/s great for me to hear what goes on over the whole year.
