New York, New York!

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

This post is a long time coming and I cannot believe that I am actually writing it! Last week my family and I went to New York City and I had the best 5 days of my life, you know it is going to be good but I never expected to have as much of a good time as I did!

I know you all want to hear about my trip so I have decided that next week I am going to blog every day and each one will be about each of my days in New York. I am just going to warn you now that there are going to be a lot of pictures and a lot of those cheesy touristy ones too!

I also thought that I would just put a disclaimer out there that I am in now way bragging about everything that I got I just simply wanted to share it with you all. Also I did save up a lot of money before this trip and I don't usually buy this much but it was a once in a life time trip so we took full advantage.

With that being said, the week of posts will start on the 3rd of November and will continue until the following Sunday. I am going to talk about each day and then the last two days will consist of a fashion haul and a beauty haul as you will probably want to see those in detail! I hope you like this idea and that you are as excited as I am!

Travel Tips, Part 2 | What Skincare I Took Away With Me!

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

Today's post is the second instalment from my travel tips series and this week it is all about the skincare that I have taken with me to New York. I am not usually one for taking it with me when I go away but I know that being in a big city all day and being out in the cold can take its toll on you skin so I thought that I would take a few products to keep on top of my skincare.

1. Garnier Micellar Water-  everyone knows that after a long day there is nothing better than taking all your make-up off. I find that the best way to do this is with micellar water and this one in particular is amazing. I am usually a Bioderma girl but I haven't been able to get my hands on it for a while so this one is slowly becoming my new favourite and it does have a friendlier price tag as well which is a bonus.

2. Neutrogena 2 in 1 Face Wash/Mask- this is perfect for double cleansing as it is a refreshing wash that isn't too hard on your skin so therefore can be used on a daily basis. I always find that there is always some make-up left on your face after you have used your make-up remover and this is the best wash I have found to clarify my skin!

3. Botanics Rose Water- this product is brilliant for toning the skin after I have washed my face, it adds hydration whilst making my skin feel really smooth and tight. I have decanted this into a smaller pump bottle as I didn't need to take the entire bottle with me and it saves on space and weight in my case.

3. Simple Light Moisturiser- this gives you 12 hour moisturisation and it is perfect because it comes in a smallish bottle that can easily be packed. I am a sucker for forgetting to put moisturiser on but I am going to make the effort during the time that I am there because I know my skin will need in when being faced with the harsh weather!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and as you know I am currently in New York but I hope you are enjoying this series none the less. Let me know in the comments what you favourite products are to travel with and if you have any tips that you think I should know! Hope you have all had a lovely weekend and I shall be back on Wednesday for the last instalment of the series!

Travel Tips, Part 1 | What I Packed In My Travel Make-Up Bag!

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

I thought that while I am away I would share with you how and what I packed to take with me on my trip to New York, I am going to be away for 6 days in total. The first instalment I will share with you what make-up I am taking with me in my make-up bag and why I decided to take some specific items! This was quite easy for me as I went back home the weekend before I left for New York so I already had this packed so I just lived out of my make-up bag for a few days!

So this is everything that I decided to take with me and I thought that I got it down to a reasonable amount. I will go through everything to just fill you on why I decided to bring them with me.

1. Naked Flushed Palette- this is a brilliant product because it has all the face products you need in a compact palette. This fits perfectly in my make-up bag and it gives me slightly more options so I can mix it up from day to day.

2. Run Boy Run Palette- I have been loving berry colours on the lids at the moment and this palette had the best combination of colours ever. There is also a mix of shimmery and matte colours which is also a bonus as you have plenty of variety.

3. MAC Blusher (Fleur Power)- as I am very indecisive when it comes to blusher I thought that packing a second one would give me more options to choose from. This is my go to blusher when I just can't make up my mind therefore it is perfect for the trip!

4. Kate Moss Lipstick (107)- I have been loving dark lips and as we are now in the midst of autumn these colours are perfect. I am going to the fashion capital of the world so you want to have some edge to your appearance and this is a brilliant way to add just that!

5. Revlon Lip Butter (Lollipop)- again this is another plum lip but this one has slightly more of a pink tone to it which makes it easier to wear on an everyday basis. The formula of these lip products are also very moisturising which is brilliant in the cold weather.

6. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer- this is my favourite concealer so I had to bring it with me, however it is nearly running out and I didn't know if it would last me my whole trip so I had to pack a second one to make sure.

7. Rimmel 25 Hour Foundation- again this is my current foundation that I am using and it last for such a long time that it is perfect for those long days sightseeing! Again I didn't know how much was left so I had to pack a second one just to make sure that I would have enough, although I could have bought a new one out there.

8. EOS Lipbalm- you can never take enough lip balms away with you but I have limited myself to this one because this is all I've been using at the moment. As the weather is getting colder I am obsessed with lip balms as they are my saviour and I know I am going to be needing it while I'm there!

9. Maybelline Colour Tattoo (Pink Gold)- this is the perfect product for a base because it makes the shadows last longer and it gives it something to stick to. I love this colour as it keeps the eyes a little bit lighter and also gives it a bit of shimmer.

10. Natural Collection Eye-Shadow (Crushed Walnut)- I use this product for my eyebrows as I am not really a fan of filling them in but this is the quickest way for me to do them. This is also super cheap and really small which is perfect for packing.

11. One Heck of a Blot Powder- everyone needs their holy grail powder to get them through their trip, this one has to come with me. Who knows what the weather is going to be like in New York but I know that I am going to want to set my make-up for the day and this is what I will use!

12. MAC Bronzer (Golden)- even though it getting colder I still like to add that warmth to my skin that I get though applying bronzer to the perimeter of my face. I don't think I could go away with any other bronzer because I use this everyday.

13. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation- like I said above I didn't know if I had enough of my current foundation to last me the entire trip so I put my second favourite one in. This again is a really long lasting foundation that has a lighter coverage compared to my other one so it will be nice to have a choice.

14. Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara- this is my favourite mascara as it gives your lashes length whilst adding volume at the same time. My lashes don't necessarily need a special mascara to make them look good but I would totally recommend this product to anyone.

15. Revlon Super Liner- everyone loves a liquid liner and I cannot go anywhere without mine. They are perfect for just lining the lash line for a day time look and then they are brilliant for winged liner to take the look from day to night.

16. Revlon Colourstay Concealer- like I said above my favourite concealer is running out so I had to take another one with me and this was my next best product. I haven't really used this much because I tend to stick to the same products but the times I have it has been really nourishing whilst covering any imperfections!

17. YSL Babydoll Mascara- I don't really know why I am taking this product because I don't use it that often but sometimes I like to wear less mascara but still get the effect I want and this is the perfect product. You only need to apply a small layer of the product and you have really lengthy lashes!

I hope you enjoyed this post and seeing what I have taken with me to New York. As you all know I am currently there so all these posts are pre-written so I hope you have all managed to read them! Let me know what you would take in your travel make-up bags in the comment below and I will reply when I am home, see you on Monday!

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY BRYONY!

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

So as some of you may know it was my sisters 21st birthday on Monday and the weekend before was her birthday party and it was one of the best nights ever. We had a sweet table, a photo booth and then the most amazing cake you could think of. I thought that I would put together a blog post in dedication to her birthday as you aren't 21 everyday!

Here are a selection of picture from the photo booth!
A few extras from the party!
As a little something extra we went to the Pear Tree for lunch on the Sunday after with some family member that couldn't make the party. We had such a lovely lunch and it was really nice to have all of our family in one place at the same time, I thought that I would include a few pictures from that as well!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what we got up to for her birthday and I am sure after we have been to New York (I AM GOING TOMORROW!!) there will be a lot of posts on here about that. If there is anything in particular that you would like to see then don't hesitate to leave a comment below and I will read them when I get back and try and get the posts up for you! There will be some content on here whilst I am away but I cannot tweet about it so you will have to come and check on Friday, next Monday and next Wednesday but after that it will be back to normal!

Teen Blog Series Week 9 | Fashion Icon!

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

So this is the last but one instalment of the Teen Blog Series however I am not going to be in the country for the last one so this is going to be my last one on my blog. This week's post is all about our fashion icons and I know mine is going to seem really cliché but I really do love her fashion sense and we are quite similar when it comes to the fashion choices we make!

My fashion icon is the one and only Zoe Sugg aka Zoella. I love the way she dresses and she makes it seem so effortless and that is something that I strive for because I always take so long to decide what to wear in the mornings! I am going to talk about 5 things I love about Zoe's fashion in particular and I will try and get an example of each to show you guys but you all know and love her so it may be quite obvious!

1. Collars- these are sometimes really hard to style because you don't just want to wear a shirt but you find it hard to style a jumper over or something like that. However, Zoe makes this so simple and she creates some amazing outfits that I wish I could wear. For example when she took a Christmas jumper from Topshop and simply added a white shirt collar under it, I would have never thought of doing this but it looks really nice. I will put a picture below so you can see what I am talking about!

2. Blouses/Shirts- I am a huge fan of shirts, I think they are such a simple way to make an outfit a bit more classy and Zoe is definitely an amazing example for this. She adds a shirt to a simple pair of disco pants and it adds class to a really simple outfit. Now for someone like me who is a little chunkier than herself I would pair them with a nice pair of black skinny jeans and some boots and you have a simple yet well put together outfit!

For example - the well know Zoella picture!
3. Jumpers- everyone know how much Zoe loves jumpers, they are such an easy thing to pair with literally anything and Zoe does this so well. Whether it be a jumper over a shirt tucked into a skater skirt or again with her well loved disco pants. I have really been loving jumpers at the moment over a shirt as it is getting colder and I think that a decorative collar adds that little something extra that just a plain jumper could need.

4. Simple Tees- as I said at the beginning Zoe's fashion is so effortless but it still looks so put together and this is something that she does with plain t-shirts. For example her Zz top which she used to wear a lot, she pairs this again with her disco pants, a simple skirt or a pair of leggings and it is such a simple outfit but it still looks fashionable whilst being comfy.

5. Her Love of Orange- me and Zoe both have a huge love for orange, be that make-up or through fashion and I kinda of love her a lot for encouraging me to putting more orange into my wardrobe. I have embraced orange a lot more this summer and I am glad I did because it can look so nice but it isn't a colour you really see a lot. My favourite outfit that Zoe has worn is this one below because I really loved the top and she makes wearing orange so easy!

Those are just a few reasons as to why Zoe is my fashion icon, there is rarely an outfit that she wears that I don't like. I am always so excited when she posts a fashion related blog post or when she does look books because I love the outfits that she puts together! Who is your fashion icon, who do you look towards for fashion advice, leave a comment below. I hope you enjoyed seeing this post and you have enjoyed the whole of the Teen Blog Series! If you did then leave a comment below telling me if you read them all and maybe a suggestion of what you would like to see next on my blog! I will see you all on Wednesday for a post about my sisters 21st birthday!
